New Adventures....

So yesterday I headed to Crown Point straight from work and hit the bike trail at Summit and headed toward 93rd. I ran all the way to 93rd which my garmin said was 2.01 miles. After running back it said it was 4.03 miles total. It has a hot hot run. I thought I was going to die and of course I had no water...

So I am on the hunt for a water bottle. I am pretty sure I am going to buy this one... My running buddy and awesome friend Sara found it online for me so I will probably be getting it so I will have something much easier to transport when I run.

I am not sure exactly what my plan for today is... I know I forgot my garmin at home so either I hit the dreadmill, run without it or go home and head out from  my house... check back later...

Thursday-Sunday felt great

Thursday I hit up the gym for a good run on the treadmill (since it was raining) then did some ab work.

Friday... I let my trainer work me good. I also hit the treadmill for 3.10 miles.

Saturday Morning I got up and went for a run on the bike trail from the Portage YMCA toward Hobart with my friend Nora. We ran 5 miles in just less than 44 minutes. It felt great.

Sunday I knew I had a 5K in Portage at 7pm so I went on a 12 mile bike ride to start the day. I started out in Merrillville, headed toward Schererville, then into Crown Point and back home. I can't believe I can still ride a bike. 12 miles later I was feel great. See photo of my awesome craigslist find below.

Then yesterday evening I went to the Nativity 5K in Portage. I finished in 26:35 and got 2nd place in my division.

Today... I rested. I am sleepy.

Got Couch... yes I do...

Tuesday and Wednesday... Very lazy and busy days... Today I head back to the gym to workout with my trainer. This weekend is a busy running weekend so I am excited to hit the pavement...

So I get a ton of emails everyday about food and recipes. I love them but often just mark them read and move on. Kraft foods sends me an email that I actually pay attention to every so often. I loved their latest recipes. Fresh and easy summer ideas. This is the first one that caught my eye...

Cool N Easy Strawberry Pie (Remember two words that always capture my heart... strawberries and pie) 5 Points Plus (with fat free cool whip)
2 cups fresh strawberries divided
2/3 cup boiling water
1pkg (3oz) Jell-O Strawberry Flavor Gelatin
Ice Cubes
1/2 Cup Cold Water
1 Tub (8oz) Fat Free or Light Whipped Topping thawed
1 ready to use reduced fat graham cracker crumb crust (6oz)
Slice 1 cup strawberries, refrigerate for later use. Chop remaining berries.; set aside. Add boiling water to gelatin mix, stir 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Add ice to cold water to make 1 cup. Add gelatin, stir until thickened. Remove any unmelted ice.

Whisk Cool Whip. Stir in chopped berries. Refrigerate 20-30 minutes or until mixture is very thick. Spoon into crust.
Refrigerate for 6 hours or until firm. Top with sliced berries.

Back in the game...

OK so Monday wasn't exactly a home run but it was back in the game for sure. I hit the gym after my meeting and ran 3.10 on the treadmill... The weekend really got the best of me and it is showing up on the scale. I just have to admit it is hard to pass up homemade cookies by my Nanny. It isn't often I get to have homemade food. Sometimes I forget how much I miss home and homemade meals. My mom cooked some fish with corn and black bean salsa on Saturday. It was fantastic. Highly recommended. We are halfway through the 100 day challenge and even though I am not pushing as hard as I did at the beginning I am still feeling good. I am back in the running saddle. This week should be a great week to get back on track.

In baseball they call it a slump...

Well this week has just beaten me...
Monday I did hit the gym to run 30 minutes on the treadmill. Wednesday I went back again to workout with my personal trainer.

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday were just failures. In baseball they call it a slump and I sure have hit one so Saturday I got my butt up early and went to a race. It was a 5K. I did well and my sister even came along and walked it.

Sunday... driving home from Ohio equals another failed day unless something happens when I get home. Check back later to find out.

The past week...

I have been really busy... SO here is an update...
Monday... hit the gym for quick 5K on the treadmill... It was wayyy too hot to hit the streets. I ended up with 3.35 miles in 30 minutes...

Tuesday... exhausted and tired. Rest.

Wednesday.... Just over 3 miles on the treadmill and 35 minutes of hardcore working out with my trainer.

Thursday.... Rest. Relay race started Friday.

Friday.... My First leg of the Ragnar Relay I ran 5.6 miles in 48:48.
I also ran my 2nd leg at 11:00pm 3.5 miles in 29:53... this was a very dark trail run. Thank goodness my friend Bryan ran some of it to keep me safe.

Saturday.... Ran my 3rd leg of the Ragnar Relay 4.3 miles 37:36... This was much harder than I ever expcted. I was tired after being awake for so long. It was an amazing exprience. 197 miles from Madison, Wisconsin to Chicago, IL. I wouldn't traide this expriecence for anything. I am so glad I did it

Sunday... RESTED!!! Recovered from the Ragnar Relay.

Oh the weekend... Days 33-35

Well Friday I just had no motivation but my lawn needed mowed. So I did it. This is very hard work at my house. We have a huge backyard. That goes down hill. So its a lot of work. Especially for wimpy me. Although I always feel so accomplished once I am done.I feel that was well deserved of marking off this day.

Day 34... FAIL.... I had to work then after work I raced home to get ready to go to a concert.... Then it poured rain harder than I have ever been rained on in my life. Including hail. Needless to say this was the first day I failed to meet my challenge. I had fun so I am ok with that.

Day 35... The Field Station Frenzy 5K took place at Coffee Creek in Chesterton, IN. Although I didn't place or get a prize I still did really well. I finished 5 out of 19 runners and 115 out of almost 380. Running season is in full swing. I love it. I leave this Thursday to head to Wisconsin for the relay race and I am getting running jitters already.

Does anyone else feel like we missed spring.... boy is it HOT HOT HOT in Indiana today.

Day 32... National Running Day

Today is National Running Day. http://www.runningday.org/site/

So I ran. Along the paved trail near my house and through my neighborhood. I got in about 4.90 miles. Today was a really great day for running so I am feeling good. I really need to get into a routine before my relay race next week. I can't believe it is approaching so quickly.

Day 27-31... I am here and in full force

Well it sure was a busy weekend.

Friday Day 27... Hit the gym with my personal trainer Dewayne... I told him I was running in a race Saturday so he went hard core on my arms and shoulders. It felt good and I felt race ready.

Saturday Day 28... I went out with some friends to the 2 Big Hearts Foundation 5K in Long Beach. It was a cool May morning. I was not feel confident when I saw all of the hills. I did great! I finished in 28:03 and even got 3rd out of 16. See me with medal.

Sunday Day 29... A nice warm May morning... headed from my house onto the Nipsco trail in Merrillville. It is just over 4 miles from my drive way to the end and back. I took it fairly easy until I was afraid of a downpour coming as it started to rain. The light rain actually felt good. I made it home before the downpour! I even had enough time to scrub my deck clean!

Monday Day 30... Ran the 10K Xtreme Trail Race at Imagination Glenn in Portage. It was very muddy and slippery. I didn't do as well as I would like but I finished and didn't injure myself so that is all that I cared about. I did finish 5 out of 10. Just barely missed 4th. So I am happy with that. Tough race!  See picture below

Tuesday Day 31... YOGA! I know I have said many many times its not for me. However I cannot resist Bob Harper's face. His biggest loser DVD is actually really nice because it is also Pilate's. So the DVD focuses more on abs, balance and making your body stronger. All the stretching felt great after a long hard weekend on my body!

How is your challenge going? Focus we are 1/3 of the way done!
