Training Begins

OK again sorry I have been so blog lazy...

I have only taken 1 day off since my last post. That was yesterday. I caught the cold that everyone has had and I just didn't have it in me yesterday. So I rested the body.

I am officially in training mode for the first time in 2013.

My first big goal is this:

This weekend I had some really amazing quiet runs near my parents home when I was visiting them. There is something to be said about soaking it all in.

Then today... it was extremely cold outside... I really didn't want to extend my cold any further... so I did the inevitable... I signed up for a gym and ran on a treadmill. The way I see it you either do it or you don't. Sometimes you just have to find ways to push yourself a little bit further. Jillian Michaels always says that it isn't about being comfortable its about seeing how far you can push. Don't wait for someone else to be the one that pushes you... push yourself a little further each day.

No Excuses

I made a goal  beginning January 7th that I would not let a moment go to waste. I began my journey of 2013 MOVE IT challenge. Since I have the weigh watchers active link I am focused on reaching 100% of my activity goal everyday. I have committed to working out for at least a few minutes everyday to help me reach it. The key is to not let anything become an excuse.

Saturday was so amazingly warm for January so I hit the streets close to come. Then I set out to attend weight watchers One Amazing Day Event. I shared with the members my knowledge of the website as well as my 50 pound weight loss story. At first I wasn't sure exactly what part of my journey to share so I just explained how important it is to always set new goals and never give up on yourself no matter how hard it gets.

Sunday I let Bob Harper kick my butt. He has a lot of DVD's and I really like how hard they push me. Even though I worked Sunday morning and had many errands to run I still made time to get in a solid workout.

Today was another very long work day. I started at my full time job and then worked at weight watchers. I knew I really only had time for something short when I got home this evening so I found this great short workout on pintrest. Even though I only did 20 minutes not 25 and I had to modify parts of the workout I felt so amazing after only twenty minutes of kicking my own butt. The best part... it required only me and my body. I turned on some music and went to work in my basement.

As for meatless Monday's... I ate Tuna as a snack and forgot to take pictures of basically everything I ate. So maybe next Monday I will actually not forget.

Celebrate Your Acheivements

Today I got up early before work and went out to run to complete my 4th day in a row of moving more. This morning I set out on a new route and really enjoyed the well lite street on an early morning. With the mild winter weather I am really enjoying getting my workout done early in the morning. I was also really fortunate that I got it done today because it was raining when I got out of work. I also got to enjoy the sun slowly begin to peek over the clouds as I finished. I really feel like feel like running gives you that alone time to gather your thoughts and plan your day. I feel like getting a workout in allows me to let everything else go. Plus getting a sweaty makes me feel so accomplished.

Another thing that got accomplished today was that my awesome boyfriend hung the Christmas present my sister Jenna got me up on a wall for me. I always say remind yourself of your progress. So I hung some of my favorite memories on this wall as a consistent reminder of how many amazing adventures I have had over the past few years. My first half marathon, my first mudathlon, my first Ragnar Relay, several very memorable half marathons... I must admit I need a few more of these to hang all of the medals I have ever received however these all have so many fond memories. They will remind me everyday of that feel I still get crossing a finish line... GOAL ACHIEVED.

Moving Right Along

Another day and another check mark.
Today I met some fellow runners for a run early morning run. Even when I am hurting from a previous days workouts I always just push on. Although I felt sore and slow I just pushed through. I can say I never regret pushing through.

Another thing feel that gets a clean slate started is really getting back the basics of eating what I refer to as real food... No packaged food. Yesterday I made some fish that we caught on our fishing trip this summer. The fillet was huge so I cut it into smaller portions and stacked my fridge so I have some really quick go to food.

I also know that I love sweet stuff. So I try to find ways to have it in a healthy way. Apples and cinnamon in the microwave are the perfect substitute.

Move it

Monday on the Biggest Loser they had a topic of Move More. Although I'm not a fan of everything that comes with the show I couldn't agree more that sometimes we just need to move more. Last year I did a 100 day challenge of working out for at least 15 minutes per day. After seeing this show and thinking how true it is that sometimes we just need to get moving. This week capped off the beginning of my 2013 challenge of moving more.

Yesterday I let Jillian kick my butt with her 30 minute Extreme Shed and Shred. The thing I always say and that I learned from Jillian is that you don't have to belong to a gym to get Ina good workout. I take my laptop to my basement pop n the DVD and I'm ready to go. Especially on a really cold winter day it's nice to just hit my basement and go to work.

Today I met my friend Bryan for a run. The great parts about becoming a runner is that you need so little to get it done. Warm clothes, my iPhone and running shoes was all I needed today. I got to spend 30 minutes just chatting away with my friend about his recent trip to Florida.

Today I saw this and thought this is exactly what I think I need to tell myself everyday...

So my adventure begins... How many days will I complete a workout in 2013.

Be Kind

Today when I was in the grocery store a elderly man was having trouble trying to find the soup he was looking for an he asked me for help. Although when he first asked me I was hesitant to why he needed my help. Once I helped him locate the soup he was looking for he was overly thankful. I was so touched by how thankful he was by me simply just finding the soup he was looking for was all the way on the bottom a difficult for him to locate. It actually completely made my day that I was able to help him. You never know when someone really needs your help. I think this made me realize how much more simple life should be. So be kind.

Starting out right...

I think the saying that I heard recently that I find so true is that people worry so much about hat they eat between Thanksgiving and New Years but they Gould worry more about what they eat between New Years and Thanksgiving.

Start now. Whatever you want out of 2013 start now and don't look back.
Make sure it's realistic
Attainable
You are ready to go after it.

Yesterday I set my first goal of 2013... I signed up for the 2013 Air Force Marathon.
